“We liked the coaching, stern and focused yet also followed up with positivity. We like that the program has coaches with actual lacrosse experience themselves.”

Tryout FAQ's

How do I get on a Mission Select Team?

Our primary tryout is in August each year. All players selected in the August tryout receive the option of securing a spot for the fall and the summer rosters at a discount. Players can also select just the fall at the full price. A Supplemental Tryout will be hosted in January or February to fill any remaining open spots for summer teams should there be any.

Who is eligible to play on the MLC Select  Teams?

Current 2nd - 8th graders.

How Does the Box/Field Combo Seasons Work?

For our 5th - 8th grade teams, each team will have a box portion of the season and a field portion. During the box portion, the teams will practice solely box lacrosse and compete in box tournaments/scrimmages. During the field portion, we will practice full field and participate in field competitions. While the two games are different, our training methodology will build the same offensive and defensive concepts in both disciplines so players will be able to switch from one to the other with only a small learning curve. Learn more about why we're adding Box Lacrosse.

Do You Have Separate Box and Field Teams?

No! If a player is selected for one of our 5th - 8th grade teams, they will participate in both the box and the field portions of the season. Tournament rosters may change slightly from event to event but training groups will remain the same throughout the season.

What if I've never played box before?

That's fine. We realize that there are a lot of players that have never been exposed to box and we're here to teach you. If you've never played box, we won't hold that against you in the evaluations.

How many players are you taking?

For teams that play 10 v 10, our ideal roster size is around 20 players. For teams that play 7 v 7, around 13 players is our ideal roster size.

Is there a cost to tryout for MLC?

No cost to try out but we do ask that you register online ahead of time.

What if I can't make the tryout?

If you can't make the tryout and would still like to be considered for a team, send us an email. We have coaches across San Antonio and can make arrangements to evaluate a player

What will players be evaluated on?

Players will be evaluated on their skills, lacrosse IQ and ability to learn quickly. Players will be evaluated against members of their grade levels.

What will happen after the tryout?

In the week following the tryouts, invitations will be sent out to players. Once an invitation is sent out, players have limited time to accept an invitation.
